Sara, a senior biology honors student with a French minor, hails from Kansas City, Mo. In 2017, Sara received a State Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) grant to fund her honors thesis, entitled Anterior Dental Microwear in Sympatric Sumatran Primates. Sara is interested in biodiversity conservation and to that aim has completed the Human and Animal Interaction study abroad program in New Zealand, and an Animal Caretaker internship with small carnivores at the Chicago Zoological Society at Brookfield Zoo. The most rewarding part of the internship for her was working with the highly endangered white-bellied pangolin.
